SHOVKET MAMEDOVA - 125
An event dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the first opera singer in Azerbaijan, a theater star, teacher, folk artist of the USSR Shovket Mamedova, was held at the State Museum of Music Culture in Azerbaijan.
The director of the State Museum of Music Culture of Azerbaijan, a doctor of art science, a honored worker of culture Alla Bayramova, gave an opening speech. Then the head of the department of the museum Khanim Abdinova told about the life and creativity of the outstanding singer, about her invaluable merits in the development of Azerbaijani music culture. Her performance was accompanied by a display of slides based on the museum's rich materials, audio and video recordings of Shovket Mamedova. Students of Shovket Mamedova - opera singer, folk artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan, professor Huraman Gasymova, vocalist, composer Gasym Khalilov, shared with their memories of Shovket Mamedova.
At the event the works of Azerbaijani and foreign composers were performed by the soloists of the Azerbaijani State Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet: well-known artist Sabina Vahabzade (vocal), laureate of international contests Atesh Garayev (vocal), Fatima Jafarzade (vocal) and Rosa Salimova (f-no).
