"SHUSHA MUSICIANS"


According to the order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev about the declaration of 2022 "The Year of Shusha" in the Azerbaijan Republic, the State Museum of Music Culture of Azerbaijan continues the section "Shusha musicians". Today we present a virtual exhibition of materials stored in the rich collections of the museum. These materials dedicated to hanende, composer, musician, poet-lyricist, Azerbaijani folk artist Jabbar Karyagdioglu (31.03.1861, Shusha - 20.04.1944, Baku).
A new stage of the development of Azerbaijani music is connected with his name. Jabbar Karyagdyogly was engaged in singing as a child, his first musical education he received at Harrat Gulu school in Shusha. Jabbar Karyagdyogli skillfully sang mugam, dastgyah, tesnif, folk songs at folk festivals and soon became famous in Karabakh. He played the role of Medjnun in 1887. Jabbar Karyagdiogly performed together with famous Sadygjan, tarist Mirza Faraj and kyamanchist Meshadi Kuli at interlaces and concerts. In 1905-1912 at the invitation of the shareholders "Grammophon", "Sport-Record" and "Ekstraphon" were recorded on gramplastinks together with other Azerbaijani musicians in Kiev, Moscow and Warsaw. On his return from Warsaw in 1912 Jabbar Karyagdyogly gave "Eastern concerts" in Moscow. He performed the mugamas of Kurds-Shahnaz, Mahur, Bayaty-Gachar, Heiraty, and, in particular, Mansuriya.
