Today is the birthday of the outstanding Azerbaijani composer and artist, people's artist of the USSR, the winner of the State Awards and the Heydar Aliyev Award, academician, professor ARIF MELIKOV.
Art by Arif Melikov is one of the brightest pages of modern Azerbaijani music culture. Every new composition of the composer finds a response and is of interest both in our republic and far beyond.
A composer that works spectacularly and productively in various genres of music, such as the legend of love ballets, "Two people", "The poem of two hearts", "Homeland" and "The Voice of the World", VII Symphony, Operetta "Waves", in chamber-instrumental works of various genres, added our national musical treasure with suites, novels and songs, films and music for folk instruments orchestras.
Talented student and continent of the composer's school of great composer Kara Karaev Arif Melikov, mastering modern technique of the composition, created unique symphonies, ballets, operetts, cantats, vocal, chamber and instrumental works based on the centuries-old foundation of our musical culture, they forever took their place among the pearls of Azerbaijani music treasures. His music for films and dramas, as well as romances and songs performed by famous artists have become very popular. The works of Arif Melikov, which fully reflect the ideals of humanity, are still successfully performed outside our country.
Arif Melikov was a close friend of the Azerbaijan State Museum of Musical Culture. Our museum regularly addresses the work of Arif Melikov, includes his works in concert programs, holds events dedicated to the memory of the immortal composer.
