ZAKIR BAGIROV - 105

Today is March 16-the birthday of Azerbaijani composer ZAKIR BAGIROV.
Honored artist, composer, professor Zakir Javad ogli Bagirov (1916-1996) was born in Nagorno-Karabakh, Shusha city. In 1949, he graduated from the Moscow State Conservatory, where he was sent to study with young musicians by the great Uzeir Gajibeili. After graduation in Moscow, which was interrupted by the Great Patriotic War, he returns to Baku and starts teaching at the Department of Music Theory, leading it for several decades. Subtle and very educated musician Zakir Bagirov simultaneously composes a lot of music. Among his works, two operas, two operettes, suites for the folk instruments orchestra, a concert for piano and orchestra and many chamber instruments and romances.
We present to you a virtual exhibition from the rich collections of the State Museum of Musical Culture of Azerbaijan.
