10th international scientific conference by The International Association for Word and Music Studies

From August 12 to 15, Director of the State Museum of Musical Culture of Azerbaijan Alla Bayramova took part at the 10th international scientific conference Music, Narrative and the Moving Image, organized by The International Association for Word and Music Studies (WMA) at Fordham University, New York.
She presented a paper (in English) Novel, Woodcuts, Film, Music… Pondering over the Title of Gara Garayev’s Symphony Engravings ‘Don Quixote’.
Gara Garayev's daughter Zuleykha Garayeva-Bagirova and her husband, conductor Elshad Bagirov were at the conference.
During the conference Alla Bayramova presented to Laurence Kramer, the distinguished professor of English and music of Fordham University, some publications related to Azerbaijani culture and music, including "Gara Garayev: Life and Works in the materials of the State Museum of Musical Culture of Azerbaijan ", and CDs.
Also Alla Bayramova visited the famous Metropolitan Museum of Art according to the invitation of the Department of Musical Instruments. During her meeting with American colleagues she presented her comments on the Azerbaijani musical instruments (saz, tar, etc).
Word and Music Studies Association was founded in 1997. Now it units members of from 26 countries. But no one from former Sosialist countries is a member of this Association, except Azerbaijan. Since 2013 Alla Bayramova is the only member from Azerbaijan in WMA.
