The International Museums Day
On May 18, 2009, in the Azerbaijan State Museum an event took place, dedicated to the International Museums Day. The museum director Alla Bayramova, Ph.D. in History of Arts, the Honored Arts Worker, addressed the opening remarks to the participants of the gathering. Then the floor was taken by Oktay Zulfugarov , a composer, People’s Artist of Azerbaijan; Nazim Kazimov, a professor, the director of the Music College under the National Conservatoire, the Honored Arts Worker; Nazim Mirishli – a composer; Sardar Farajov – the director of Uzeyir Hajibeyov home-museum; Afag Aliyeva - the director of Vagif Mustafa-zade home-museum and others.
Then the concert took place. The performers included Ashig Khanlar’s son, the award-winner of “The Golden Needle” competition on Lider-TV – Azer Khanlar oglu; the finalist of “The Folk Star-2008” program on ATV – Shirazi Guliyev; “Aysel” song-theatre affiliated with theState Children’s Philharmonic Society led by Oktay Zulfugarov. The participants included composers, the museum personnel, music fans, and the media.
