GAVAL (TAMBOURINE)

Collection of the ASMMC.

The gaval belongs to the group of unilateral percussion instruments. This is a shallow circular frame made of walnut wood with 60-70 small copper rings set to the inner side along the perimeter. Sturgeon skin tanned in a special way is stretched over the round frame.
