"SHUSHA MUSICIANS" Soltan Hajibeyov
In accordance with the order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on declaring 2022 the “Year of Shusha” in the Republic of Azerbaijan, the State Museum of Musical Culture of Azerbaijan continues the section “Shusha Musicians” about the musicians of the cradle of music - the city of Shusha.
In today's rubric, we present brief information about the composer, teacher, People's artist of the USSR Soltan Hajibeyov (08.05.1919, Shusha – 19.09.1974, Baku) and some materials kept in the museum's collection.
He graduated from the Azerbaijan State Conservatory. The ballet Gulshan, 1950 and the symphonic suite Karvan, 1945, are famous. He is the author of the musical comedy Gizil Gul, opera for children Iskender and Shepherd, works for folk instruments ensemble and large symphony orchestras, songs and romances and music for drama performances.
