Diverse collections of The State Museum of Azerbaijani Musical Culture number about 40 thousand items and include music manuscripts as well. Working on them the museum staff revealed some unknown pieces created in 1920s - 1960s by the well known Azerbaijani composers, such as Niyazi, Jovdet Hajiyev, Gara Garayev, Soltan Hajibeyov, Polad Bulbuloglu, and prominent pianist Farkhad Badalbeyli. Because of different, sometimes unclear reasons some of them had not been performed yet at all, some used to be once performed half a century ago. The Museum made this music available for public by performing it, publishing it in two printed music scores books and by issuing the present CD. These piano pieces present the fast evolution of Azerbaijani composing school in the mid-20th century passing a very long way to its maturity in a very short time from its establishment in 1908 - the year when the first work by the Azerbaijani composer appeared (opera Leyli and Mejnun by Uzeir Hajibeyov).
Concert pianist Ulviya Hajibeyova (b. 1960), alumnus of The Azerbaijan State Conservatoire, assistant professor of her alma mater, now called Baku Music Academy, is the first and still the best performer of the most of the music discovered in the Museum manuscripts archives.
This CD was published with the financial support of The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of The Azerbaijan Republic.
