"SHUSHA MUSICIANS"
In accordance with the order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on declaring 2022 as the "Year of Shusha" in the Republic of Azerbaijan, The State Museum of Musical Culture of Azerbaijan continues the rubric "Shusha Musicians" about the musicians of the city of Shusha.
In today's rubric, we present brief information about the great Azerbaijani composer, musicologist, folklore investigator, teacher, statesman Uzeyir Hajibeyli (1885, Shusha - 1948, Baku) and some materials kept in the museum's collection.
Uzeyir Hajibeyli is the founder of Azerbaijani professional music and national opera, the head of the Azerbaijan State Conservatory in 1928-1929 and 1939-1948, as well as the author of three musical comedies, songs, the national anthem of the Azerbaijan Republic (1918), 7 operas (the first national opera Leyli and Majnun, 1908, and the epic opera Koroghlu, 1937, are among them).
