The International Museum Day
As from 1978 according to the decision of the International Council of Museums the 18th May of every year is being celebrated as The International Museum Day. With this purpose the event under the name “Laughing with Molla Nasreddin” dedicated to the International Museum Day was held in the State Museum of Musical Culture of Azerbaijan.
Molla Nasreddin is a famous folk character of the Islamic East and the hero of the great body of popular humoristic stories and tales spread in Azerbaijan, Turkey, Middle Asia, etc. Humoristic Azerbaijani magazine under the same name, Molla Nasreddin, was published in 1905-1931 (with breaks) in Tiflis (modern Tbilisi, Georgia), Tebriz (Iran) and Baku (Azerbaijan) in turn. To commemorate 105th anniversary of the foundation of this magazine, “Laughing with Molla Nasreddin” title was chosen for the celebration of the International Museum Day in 2011 in Azerbaijan.
In this connection an exhibition was organized in the Museum foyer. The grotesques, caricatures, the illustrations to the musical comedies from the Museum archival depositary were presented there during the exhibition.
The “Friendly Grotesques on Azerbaijani Composers” by Hasan and Ali Akhverdiyevs, the illustrations to the musical comedy of U. Hajibeyli ”Either, One or Another” by Elturan Avalov, the works of the artist, the Chairman of the Union of Azerbaijan Caricaturists Bayram Hajizade and the others were met with the interest by the guests.
The Museum Director, the Honored Worker of Culture Dr. Mrs. Alla Bayramova addressed the meeting with the opening speech and then gave permission to give a report to Ms. Ulviya Shammadova, the Head of the Scientific-Mass Department and also the presenter of the meeting.
The scenes from the musical comedies of U. Gajibeyev : “Either, One or Another» and ”Arshin Mal Alan”, the scene from the musical comedy “Everybody Has His own Star” by S. Aleskerov and I.Melikzade, the scene from the musical comedy “Whose is the Wedding?” by A .Meshedibeyev and M.Alizade were presented at the event further.
The actors of the Azerbaijan State Theatre of Musical Comedy: the Honored Artist of Azerbaijan Ramiz Mammadov, Naida Orujeva, Nadir Hasiyev, Ulviya Aliyeva, Samed Hasiyev, the National Artist of Azerbaijan Fatma Mahmudova, the Honored artist of Azerbaijan Hanum Gafarova, Novruz Gartal, Moyla Mirzaaliyev, Rasmiya Nurmammadova played the roles in the scenes.
The wealth of U.Hajibeyli’s music, the original performance of the actors was met by the guests with particular cordiality.
The Honored Artist of Azerbaijan A. Alizade continued the meeting with the poem” Satirical Poem” by R. Akhmedzade.
At the end of the event the Museum workers conducted the interactive excursion by way of the game for the guests of all age groups.
By the terms of the game the Museum workers distributed the different things to the participants and all the things had to be placed by the participants into the right place in the exposition.
This activity was met with great interest and successfully carried out by both the children and the adults.
Then the guests were invited to take part in karaoke compiled from Azerbaijani folk songs.
The festive mood and spirit reigned at the event all the time on that day.
