Event dedicated to the 160th anniversary of tar performer Sadigjan.

On 10 November, 2006, the event dedicated to the 160th anniversary of the eminent Azerbaijani tar performer Sadigjan was held in the State Museum of Azerbaijan Musical Culture. The Director of the Museum Alla Bayramova made an opening speech.

The presenter of the event was the Head of museum's department Tarana Gaziyeva who told of Sadigjan. The exhibition entitled "Sadigjan and his followers" was arranged in the Museum's lobby. The exhibited photographs of such prominent tar performers as Gurban Pirimov, Mansur Mansurov, Hamid Malybeyli, Jamil Amirov, Mirza Faraj, Haji Mammadov, Akhsan Dadashov, Habib Bayramov, etc. are preserved in the Museum's funds.

Guests of the event were representatives of Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Baku Musical Academy, Azerbaijan National Conservatoire, pedagogues and students of University of Culture and Art, Sadigjan's great-grandchildren - Sabir Sadigov and Navvab Sadigov, workers of the Baku museums, representatives of the press and television. The concert part of the event included performance by the People's Artists of Azerbaijan Mansum Ibrahimov and Nazaket Teymurova, the Honoured Artists Vamig Mammadaliyev, Zamig Aliyev, the winner of the Republican Mugam Contest 2005 Tayar Bayramov, the graduate of the National Conservatoire tar performer Rufat Huseynov, the first musician of the mugam theatre Vusal Iskanderzade and others.

Guests were presented souvenirs (music books, telephone address books, notebooks, bookmarks) with images of museum exhibits reflecting Azerbaijan musical culture. Those souvenirs were produced with the financial support of Open Society - Assistance Foundation. Bookmarks produced for Sadigjan's 160th anniversary decorated with images of tars of 1908, 1916, 1987 which are the Museum's exhibits.
