VAN CLIBURN in BAKU
Opening a new section “Guest Performers”, we present the materials available at the Museum of Musical Culture of Azerbaijan on Van Cliburn.
Harvey Lavan "Van" Cliburn, Jr. (1934 - 2013) - outstanding American pianist, the first winner of the International Tchaikovsky Competition (1958).
Cliburn toured in different countries. In 1960, he performed in Baku on the stage of the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic named after M. Magomaev with two concerts. The first one, the recital, took place on June 26, and the second, on June 28, he performed with the State Symphony Orchestra named after Uzeyir Hajibeyov conducted by People's Artist of the USSR Niyazi (1912-1984).
