SAMP – Intercontinental Museums’ Network in Azerbaijan

In the framework of the participation of Azerbaijan State Museum of Musical Culture in the work of the Intercontinental Museums’ Network SAMP, a seminar was held in Baku on 9-11 July 2010. Among the participants of the seminar were the executive director of the network Elisabet Olofsson, representatives from Stockholm’s Royal Technology University, museum collaborators and community representatives from Philippines, Tanzania, Colombia and India, as well as collaborators of Azerbaijan State Museum of Musical Culture, representatives of the musical community, friends of the museum and intellectuals. During the days of the seminar meetings at State Tourism University, HATT Group development agency, NGO Ecosphere, took place along with the meetings with the musicians and students of the musical high schools. The guests visited the expositions at the Musical Culture Museum and its branches: House-museum of Niazi, Vagif Mustafazade Museum. A concert with the museum’s ancient musical instruments is planned as well. The guests learned about museum’s experience and exchange with their own experiences. Moreover, a presentation of the international edition concerning museum work titled “A road map to better performance - The importance of motivating staff ” took place during this seminar. The book is published in four languages: Azerbaijani, English, Spanish and Swedish, and, is the result of the common project of Azerbaijan Museum of Musical Culture and the museums in Sweden, Costa Rica and Botswana in the framework of SAMP. This book is the first international publication in museum field in Azerbaijan. Being an intercontinental network of the museums SAMP has the goal to carry out common projects, as well as to be part of the charity activities.
